In an interview with Forbes, Kate Black, CIPP/US, the first global head of privacy and data protection at 23andMe, spoke a bit about the strategy behind protecting user data at the genetic-testing company, how to move health care forward, and steps users can take to assert control over their own data. Black identified data sharing and trust as two key components to advancing health care. She said there needs to be a way to appropriately share data, integrate health data across health care silos, and incorporate technological advances in such a way that it helps establish and support a trust framework.
