Like a personal relationship, terminating a contract with a third-party vendor may happen quickly and may be a rocky event, K Royal, CIPP/E, CIPP/US, explains in this installment of her series on third-party vendor management for The Privacy Advisor. Sometimes terminations happen because of unforeseen circumstances, or sometimes needs just aren’t being met. Either way, "when considering the termination of a vendor relationship, you must consider the vendor, the contract and the business impact," she writes, adding later, “As privacy professionals, we are expected to maintain a high degree of suspicion—somewhat inherent in our positions—that at some point, something will go wrong and a relationship will need to be terminated.” Editor’s Note: If you missed the earlier chapters of this series, find them all here at the IAPP’s Resource Center.
