Citing a source familiar with Ring, Amazon's security camera, The Intercept reports that beginning in 2016, Ring granted its Ukraine-based research and development team “virtually unfettered access to a folder on Amazon’s S3 cloud storage service that contained every video created by every Ring camera around the world.” The data was reportedly unencrypted and traceable to customers. The source also notes that Ring provided U.S. executives and engineers privileged access, including live feeds from some customer data. “We take the privacy and security of our customers’ personal information extremely seriously,” Ring Spokesperson Yassi Shahmiri said.
