CIO Network reports on the growing number of corporations taking steps to address the ethical use of data, as well as its application for socially responsible endeavors. While the attention is turning toward data ethics, the article states, “The crescendo of voices that are calling for data ethics and greater data responsibility is growing. Data ethics and data responsibility are not just good citizenship. They are good business.” Pointing to companies engaging in good data practices, CIO Network highlights Bloomberg, JP Morgan and Nuveen as companies all turning the focus on data ethics, data privacy and data philanthropy. IAPP Executive Committee Member and Mastercard Chief Data Officer JoAnn Stonier, CIPM, notes, “One of the major issues of our time is information equality. Often, those most in need of data and insight are the least likely to have access.”
