Acxiom Chief Data Ethics Officer Jordan Abbott, CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPM, spoke with Fortune about the data broker's response to the Court of Justice of the European Union's "Schrems II" ruling. Abbott said Acxiom built their agreements to have data transfers continue using standard contractual clauses regardless of whether the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield agreement was invalidated. "We got additional guidance from the European Data Protection Board ... last week and it indicated that SCCs are valid, provided a case-by-case assessment is done with respect to the data importation," Abbott said. "We're building our assessments to do so right now."
