To curb the number of unsolicited calls, Hong Kong Privacy Commissioner Stephen Wong believes a “do-not-call” register would be the best viable option despite opposition from some businesses, The Standard reports. This is one of three options currently under review, the other options being self-regulation by telemarketers and call-filtering technology. “We could clearly deliver the message to the people of Hong Kong and those other stakeholders what we mean by protecting personal data and what we mean by respecting the personal data of others,” Wong said. The government will take public opinion until 31 July.
