The Immigration Department of the Government of Hong Kong has requested that Canadian Lawyer Robert Tibbo be removed from a case involving seven asylum-seekers who sheltered American whistleblower Edward Snowden in 2013, citing a breach of the professional code of conduct and for having a conflict of interest, the South China Morning Post reports. Tibbo, who delivered Snowden to the asylum-seekers for shelter, argues that this is another attempt by the government to halt his legal defense. The asylum-seekers risk detention and deportation. Sri Lankan police have reportedly been in Hong Kong looking for the refugees.
