Hogan Lovells has announced a new global privacy initiative, "Privacy 2040," which aims to increase collaboration between businesses, policymakers and regulators for future innovation in the field of privacy. The law firm characterized the project as one that will create dialogue on "the opportunities and challenges arising from the growth of the digital economy and the use of personal data." To start the conversation, Hogan Lovells devised a preliminary list of potential areas for improvement and advancement, including regulation of emerging technologies, data protection by design and by default, and international data transfer mechanisms.
