Hamburg’s data protection authority, the Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information, advised companies and public authorities that expanded measures to collect personal data during the COVID-19 pandemic have now been lifted. The authority said entities should “take this new phase of the pandemic as an opportunity to take stock of their ‘corona data,’” and if not already done, “pandemic-related data collection should now be stopped.” Also, any data no longer required must be deleted, it advised.
