Health Data Management reports that the new cybersecurity best practices out of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services are not only helpful for provider organizations, but they are also likely to become the de facto standard industry-wide. "The HHS publication is intended to highlight the need to improve. This year, HHS will look at how well the industry is taking security seriously," Mayer Brown Partner Marcus Christian said. He warned that state attorneys general and other regulators are increasing their attention to ensuring that the health industry moves toward better data security practices.
