The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services' Office of the Chief Information Officer has announced a call for abstracts for an upcoming symposium focusing on the intersection of privacy, data and emerging technologies. Data Min(d)ing: Privacy and Our Digital Identities will take place Oct. 22, 2018, in Washington. HHS is specifically seeking "original scholarship and/or empirical research in diverse areas including law, policy, medicine, and ethics, among others," a news release states. Other interest areas include internet of things, artificial intelligence, blockchain, genetics, electronic health records and the EU General Data Protection Regulation. Submissions should be sent to HHSPrivacyEvents@hhs.gov no later than June 15.
