The latest statistics of Guernsey’s Office of the Data Protection Authority show 26 personal data breaches reported in September and October 2021, the second lowest figure since statutory breach reporting was introduced. Personal data being sent to incorrect recipients accounts for the highest number of reported breaches, which occurred across various sectors. While Data Protection Commissioner Emma Martins said it is “pleasing” to see reported breaches decline, “each breach matters and we must continue to put every effort into reducing them as much as possible.”
