Access Now announced it filed a joint amicus brief with New America’s Open Technology Institute to the U.S. District Court for the District of Maine defending the state's privacy law as plaintiffs seek to invalidate the legislation. The brief discusses internet service providers' "privileged position," which includes access to sensitive user information. Access Now U.S. Policy Manager Eric Null said data collection by ISPs "can harm people, especially those most at risk, if not regulated."
