Privacy groups are urging California officials to appoint members to the California Privacy Protection Agency who have a demonstrated history of working on behalf of consumers. The groups wrote in a letter doing so is “critical to creating an effective agency” that will ensure consumers can exercise their rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act. “This new agency has significant regulatory and enforcement authority and has the opportunity to dramatically strengthen consumer rights, individual privacy, and civil rights,” they wrote.
