The bill would see the storage of all Australians' health records in a national database and has been controversial due to what some have described as a lack of data protection considerations. The new amendments are designed to address those concerns. The bill now includes a right-of-review provision and streamlined requirements around monitoring for unauthorized access to healthcare records, the report states. Health and ageing minister Nicola Roxon said the amendments will make the legislation safer and more secure.
