Assembly Bill 1281 granting a one-year extension to the moratoria for the collection of business-to-business and employee data under the California Consumer Privacy Act has been approved by Gov. Gavin Newsom, D-Calif. The exemption was set to expire in January before the bill's passage. Meanwhile, Newsom denied the passage of the Parent’s Accountability and Child Protection Act, which would have required companies that operate on a social media platform to obtain parental consent for children the business knows are under the age of 13.
