BBC News reports on Google’s controversial DeepMind artificial intelligence division, and why the tech giant is jumping into the U.K. health sphere. DeepMind has been involved in several projects in the U.K., including partnerships with London’s Royal Free Trust and Moorfields Eye Hospital. DeepMind took on the projects in order to help the National Health Service solve its issues with sharing and storing data. DeepMind co-founder Mustafa Suleyman said the company is setting up a panel of nine independent reviewers to ensure the firm is on track, while stating DeepMind was anticipating backlash over privacy concerns. "I can completely understand why there was surprise about what we were doing. We have learned a lot and there is a lot we can do to improve — we take that feedback," Suleyman said.
