Google announced it will open a new center staffed with engineers to work on privacy and safety issues on the tech company’s platforms, the Financial Times reports. The Google Safety Engineering Center will be located in Munich, Germany. Google CEO Sundar Pichai wrote in a blog post the tech company hopes to double the number of privacy engineers in Munich to more than 200 by the end of the year. “The team will work hand-in-hand with privacy specialists in Google offices across Europe and globally, and the products built there will be used around the world,” Pichai writes. (Registration may be required to access this story.)
