Google and European media companies are negotiating over harvesting of readers’ data and advertising, Reuters reports. Publishers planned to use data privacy measures to prohibit Google from storing readers’ data, the report states according to those involved in the talks, but the company said it would stop their access to lucrative ads in return. “We are concerned when big players seek to dictate the ways we should process data,” said media company Schibsted’s Chief Privacy Officer Ingvild Ness.
