A Massachusetts woman filed a class-action lawsuit in federal court alleging Google collected personal information from her two children without obtaining parental consent, MediaPost reports. Paula Ridenti claims Massachusetts law allows private individuals to sue over activity the U.S. Federal Trade Commission has deemed unfair. The FTC settled with Google in September 2019 over alleged Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act violations. Ridenti said her children have consistently viewed YouTube channels “directed to children” over the last four years.
