An internal email from Google Global Policy Chief Karan Bhatia outlined a reorganization of the company’s approach to global policy, Bloomberg reports. According to a source familiar with the decision, the move will include additional resources for emerging markets and is a reaction to the ability of policymakers worldwide to regulate the company’s core businesses. Meanwhile, Google announced an “error” in not disclosing a built-in microphone in devices belonging to the company’s Nest Secure home security system. The company said, “The on-device microphone was never intended to be a secret and should have been listed in the tech specs. That was an error on our part. The microphone has never been on and is only activated when users specifically enable the option.” (Registration may be required to access this story.)
