A coalition of organizations has created the Global Alliance for Responsible Media, a group that aims to enhance the media ecosystem through the creation of “actions, processes and protocols” to protect consumers and brands from safety concerns, Campaign reports. The alliance said it is “working [toward] a media environment where hate speech, bullying and disinformation is challenged, where personal data is protected, and used responsibly when given, and where everyone, especially children, [is] better protected from harm.” Facebook, Twitter, Mastercard, Adidas, Verizon and the Interactive Advertising Bureau are among the participants. Meanwhile, DuckDuckGo Founder and CEO Gabriel Weinberg writes in an op-ed for The New York Times about how tech companies can sell ads without infringing on users’ privacy.
