Hessian Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information Michael Ronellenfitsch is exploring whether Apple is violating data protection rules by measuring customers’ temperatures at retail stores, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung reports. As retail stores reopen after the COVID-19 outbreak, employees will take temperatures using an infrared thermometer. “Among other things, the data protection officers should check whether the measurement of body temperature is proportional and what happens to the measurement data,” the article states.
