Germany’s State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information in Rhineland-Palatinate issued a warning on digital health applications. The authority said IT security experts found “serious data protection deficiencies” in an app included in the directory for digital health apps, which could have “exposed” patients’ data. Deputy State Commissioner Helmut Eiermann said, “the protection and security of data must have the highest priority” for health apps, adding users “must be able to trust that their data is effectively protected.”
