The U.S. Government Accountability Office recommended the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau update the model privacy notice form it provides for financial institutions. The recommendation comes after the GAO's review of the personal information collected and shared by banks and credit unions. The GAO found the privacy notices used by those financial institutions did not provide a complete rundown of how consumers' information was used and, in response, asked the CFPB to update the privacy notice form to include more data categories.
