The U.S. Government Accountability Office is recommending the Department of Housing and Urban Development better protect sensitive shared data. The GAO said HUD collects “huge amounts” of sensitive personal data but isn’t taking “enough action to protect information exchanged with others.” It recommends HUD review and revise privacy policies. The organization should also develop an inventory with information about the external entities it shares data with and the access they have to sensitive information.
