Northeastern University Professor of Law and Computer Science Woodrow Hartzog and Washington University School of Law Koch Distinguished Professor in Law Neil Richards write how perhaps the most significant part of the draft American Data Privacy and Protection Act is “duties of loyalty.” Unfortunately, the draft bill falls short of “fully realizing the potential of data loyalty as the anchor of U.S. privacy law,” they argue, but add that “Lawmakers are a stone’s throw away from fully realizing the potential for data loyalty.”
