The U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s fifth annual PrivacyCon allowed privacy researchers from a variety of disciplines to come together and share their latest work on issues ranging from health apps, to Internet of Things, to bias in artificial intelligence algorithms. IAPP Senior Westin Fellow Müge Fazlioglu, CIPP/E, CIPP/US, reports on some of the presentations, including the monetary value of privacy, data subject rights and the effects of privacy law on EU consumer welfare and competition.
