The U.S. Federal Trade Commission has released the agenda for a Jan. 28 workshop to be held in Washington on the benefits and potential misuses of voice-cloning technologies. FTC Commissioner Rohit Chopra will provide opening remarks at “You Don’t Say: An FTC Workshop on Voice Cloning Technologies,” and University of Florida John and Mary Lou Dasburg Preeminence Chair in Engineering Patrick Traynor will give a keynote presentation on the state of voice-cloning technologies. There will also be three panel discussions on the pros and cons and ethics of the technology, as well as authentication, detection and mitigation.
