The U.S. Federal Trade Commission announced a request for information on cloud computing providers in the contexts of competition and data security. With data security, the agency is seeking to better understand "the extent to which certain segments of the economy are reliant on cloud service providers" and "the security risks associated with the industry's business practices." More specifically, the FTC wants to hear about impacts to specific industries, including health care, finance, transportation, e-commerce and defense. The RFI deadline is 22 May.
