The U.S. Federal Trade Commission announced it has reached a settlement with Medable over allegations it falsely claimed participation in the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield agreement. In its complaint, the FTC alleged Medable claimed in its privacy policy it adhered to Privacy Shield; however, the pharmaceutical and biotechnology research company never completed the necessary steps with the Department of Commerce to participate in the agreement. As part of the settlement, Medable can no longer misrepresent its participation in Privacy Shield, as well as any other sponsored privacy program.
