The U.S. Federal Trade Commission contemplated suing Amazon Ring this year for alleged privacy and data security violations, The Information reports. Sources close to the FTC's investigation said settlement talks were halted for undisclosed reasons by FTC Chair Lina Khan sometime around the beginning of her tenure, which started in June. The news surfaces as Amazon was recently accused of potentially mishandling personal data it collected across its business and lobbying against proposed U.S. privacy legislation at the state and federal levels.
