The agency suggests technology teams follow best practices to defend against a ransomware attack, including establishing offline, off-site, encrypted backups of essential business data. Companies should also educate employees on security practices. “A small business’s best defense is a workforce trained in the tricks that cybercriminals are likely to use,” the FTC said, urging businesses to “shore up your defenses through technology and training.”
