The U.S. Federal Trade Commission announced it reached a settlement with New Jersey–based Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics regarding the company's falsified EU-U.S. Privacy Shield participation. The medical device manufacturer allegedly allowed its Privacy Shield certification to expire in 2018 but continued to claim participation. As part of the settlement, Ortho-Clinical must either continue to apply Privacy Shield protections, return or delete the data it collected during the falsification period.
