Partisan differences within the U.S. Federal Trade Commission have delayed the settlement the agency hopes to reach with Facebook, The Wall Street Journal reports. According to a source close to the matter, the FTC’s two Democratic commissioners, Rebecca Kelly Slaughter and Rohit Chopra, are concerned the settlement is not a sufficient penalty against the tech company. FTC Chairman Joseph Simons hopes for a bipartisan decision to enhance the FTC’s credibility in privacy enforcement. A Facebook spokeswoman said the tech company hopes “to reach an appropriate and fair resolution.” (Registration may be required to access this story.)
