After a window for public comment and review, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has denied AgeCheq, Inc.’s application for its proposed Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) verifiable consent method. In a letter to AgeCheq, the FTC stated that the company’s proposed method “incorporates methods already enumerated in the (COPPA) Rule …” AgeCheq recently proposed another verifiable consent method and that is currently open for public comment.
