The U.S. Federal Trade Commission and its law enforcement partners have announced the launch of "Operation Call it Quits," which sets out to address the growing issue of illegal robocalls. The joint venture has already rolled out 94 actions against operations involving the fake, pre-recorded nuisance calls and telemarketing scams. The total number of FTC actions against robocallers and Do Not Call violators stands at 145. "We’re all fed up with the tens of billions of illegal robocalls we get every year," FTC Bureau of Consumer Protection Director Andrew Smith said. "Today’s joint effort shows that combatting this scourge remains a top priority for law enforcement agencies around the nation."
