A federal privacy law in the U.S. is not on the immediate horizon, but the conversation for why it makes sense to draft legislation rages on. There is reason to believe a federal standard for privacy could generate a remedy to the many privacy issues the U.S. currently faces, including those associated with data flows, COVID-19 and consumer desires. The positive effects of a federal law were discussed during both panels on the keynote stage during P.S.R.’s opening session Thursday. IAPP Staff Writer Joe Duball rounds up the range of possibilities discussed.
