The IAPP Europe Data Protection Intensive (DPI) is less than two weeks away, and this year’s event features two half-day preconference workshops tailored to the practical needs of privacy and data protection professionals: Drafting the Contract: To Be or Not To Be a Data Controller and Privacy Impact Assessments: The Full Picture.

  • Drafting the Contract: To Be or Not To Be a Data Controller

Scheduled for the morning of April 14, this preconference workshop will feature Osborne Clarke Partners Ulrich Baumgartner and James Mullock, CIPP/E, Aon Deputy CPO Brad Bryant, Wyndham Worldwide Senior Counsel Sue Gold, CIPP/E, and Dell Global Marketing Data Protection and Privacy Manager Neil Matthews on the importance of ensuring appropriate contractual safeguards for protecting personal data.

This session promises to be a lot of fun—with mock negotiations, quizzes and breakout group discussions to help you identify the practical considerations for outsourcing while gaining insights into different approaches across Europe. And, this session will also provide an opportunity to discuss anticipated changes and review requirements of the new regulation.

  • Privacy Impact Assessments: The Full Picture

The afternoon preconference session will feature ICO Group Manager Policy Delivery Iain Bourne, Dell Global Marketing Data Protection and Privacy Manager Neil Matthews, AstraZeneca Privacy Associate Gayle Pearce, CIPP/E, CIPM, Deloitte Senior Manager Maarten Stassen, CIPP/E, CIPM, and Celgene International Privacy Legal Advisor João Torres Barreiro on privacy impact assessments (PIAs).

With the draft General Data Protection Regulation citing PIAs essential to any sustainable data protection framework, it is evident PIAs are essential. In this interactive workshop, you’ll learn how to build the PIA that best fits your organization’s needed while meeting regulatory and business expectations.

And, of course, during the conference itself, we have new topics and keynotes added this year, and networking opportunities including the Football Friendly, Women Leading Privacy and the Privacy Social. For all the details on this year’s event, check out the DPI overview here, and for details on registering specifically for preconference workshops or the full conference, visit the event registration page.
