The Future of Privacy Forum has identified 10 privacy-enhancing technology and privacy risks to watch out for over the next decade. FPF lists biometric technology, smart cities and location tracking as some of issues that may pose "complex data protection challenges" during the 2020s. On the other side of the equation, zero knowledge proofs, homomorphic encryption, differential privacy and synthetic datasets as privacy technologies that "can enhance privacy and, consequently, other rights — (are) reasons to be optimistic that organizations will be better able to manage data responsibly," according to FPF CEO Jules Polonetsky, CIPP/US, and hackylawyER Founder Elizabeth Renieris, CIPP/E, CIPP/US.
