Former U.S. Federal Trade Commission Chief Technologist Ashkan Soltani is joining Georgetown Law as a distinguished fellow, according to a Georgetown Law news release. Soltani, who was a significant contributor to the California Consumer Privacy Act, will work with the Institute for Technology Law & Policy and Center on Privacy & Technology. In his time at the FTC, he created the Office of Technology Research and Investigation, was one of the first technologists in the Division of Privacy and Identity Protection, and served as senior advisor to the chief technology officer in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.
