Cyberscoop reports former U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency Director Chris Krebs suggested his former office become a standalone unit. CISA is housed under the Department of Homeland Security, but Krebs said agency independence could "make the front door clearly visible" for incident reporting and consultation rather than "going to five or six different agencies." Fellow U.S. cybersecurity officials dismissed the idea, rebuffing the concept as impractical and unworkable.
