Foreign nationals can now request their personal data under Canada’s Privacy Act, according to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner. The Privacy Act Extension Order No. 3 permits foreign nationals obtain their personal data held by federal governmental institutions. Previously, foreign citizens had to hire a third party to make a request on their behalf. Non-Canadians living abroad are also able to engage with the privacy commissioner and request corrections or omissions of their personal data.
