The Victorian Office of the Freedom of Information Commissioner will no longer exist as a stand-alone agency, but will instead merge with the Office of the Commissioner for Privacy and Data Protection, The Age reports. Three roles will be created in conjunction with the move, “but both current commissioners will have to apply for the jobs if they want to stay on,” the report states. The merge will also include the introduction of new legislation to the Victorian Parliament, which will include provisions to speed up FOI request processes.
