As part of an ongoing series that investigates the surveillance tactics used by ordinary people to spy on one another, Motherboard reports on cellphone-tracking app Xnore. The "stalkerware" app allows people to remotely monitor a cellphone’s Facebook and WhatsApp messages, GPS coordinates, emails, photos, and browsing histories, as well as record phone calls. Motherboard confirmed that a flaw on the app’s website allowed anyone using the service to access information contained within other people’s accounts and intercept communication for approximately 28,000 users.
