Politico reports on debate in U.S. Congress over whether to reauthorize Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. While bipartisanship exists, a congressional aide said "major policy differences" remain "when talking specifics" on reauthorization before the December deadline. U.S. Rep. Zoe Lofgren, D-Calif., said while Congress has some common ground on Section 702, the U.S. intelligence community "always managed to derail the effort" and seek to maintain the warrantless surveillance Section 702 currently allows.
