NationalJournal reports on the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC’s) Travis LeBlanc, who, in his first year as the bureau’s enforcement chief, has issued some of the largest fines in the agencies’ history. The FCC and its partner agencies have collected more than $365 million in fines, settlements and refunds for consumers since LeBlanc started last March. He’s a new kind of enforcement chief, the report states. Where his role in the past has been filled by career FCC lawyers, “LeBlanc is a prosecutor, who has little interest in playing nice.” He recently made news for treading on what has traditionally been the Federal Trade Commission’s domain and regulating on privacy.
