In a highly anticipated vote, the U.S. Federal Communications Commission approved sweeping new privacy rules for broadband providers. Voting 3-2 along party lines, the FCC will require broadband providers to get consumer opt-in consent to collect sensitive information such as web browsing history, location, television viewing habits, app usage, and call and text records.
