In a joint partnership with the National White Collar Crime Center and the Bureau of Justice Assistance, the FBI is asking anyone in the United States to come forward if they have been the victim of a distributed denial-of-service attack, Information Security Media Group reports. Victims are asked to either file a report with their local FBI field office or to visit the Internet Crime Complaint Center. The FBI's alert this week has focused on the threat of stresser/booter services, which are seen as a widely used method to disrupt and extort organizations. The plea to come forward is in an effort to help law enforcement track down the operators and users of stresser/booter services.
