Johns Hopkins Hospital is training a machine-learning algorithm that studies changes to patients' faces to identify signs of stroke, seizures or migraine headaches, The Wall Street Journal reports. The system analyzes "changes in the patients’ features, such as the paralysis of certain facial muscles or unusual eye movements." However, some medical experts said they will be leery of facial recognition technology until it can be refined so patients can trust the results.
